What is the difference between a steam sauna and a FIR sauna?

Traditional or steam saunas heat the body completely from the surface of the skin i.e. although making you feel very hot, the heating is quite shallow – only a few millimetres below the skin.
In FIR saunas, invisible light rays emanate from several infrared emitters. This totally safe Infrared light penetrates deep into the fat and muscles of the body, creating a more powerful detoxifying influence upon the deeper tissues of the body.

What does the scientific literature say about FIR saunas?

Research shows that saunas greatly assist in the elimination of accumulated toxins. Toxic metals, including mercury as well as organic toxins such a PCB's* and pesticide residues, are excreted in high quantities in the sweat during professional hyperthermic (sweat) therapy session.
* (toxic manufactured chemicals suspected of causing cancer, endocrine
disruption and other adverse effects on organisms)

How does it work?

Heat causes toxins to be released from cells. The toxic molecules will then reside transiently in the lymph fluid. Since sweat is manufactured from the lymph fluid, toxins present in the lymph fluid will exit the body through the sweat.

Since the liver and kidneys are not required for this process, these organs are mainly unaffected by hyperthermic therapy and toxins are able to leave the body even when liver or kidney function is impaired – this may be a distinct advantage for individuals whose liver and/or kidneys are already under toxic stress.

Are FIR saunas extremely hot like traditional saunas which I cannot tolerate?

The air temperature in FIR saunas remains much lower than in a traditional sauna. The individual feels more comfortable. Unlike traditional saunas or steam baths, which can leave a person feeling very tired, the FIR sauna is usually quite energizing making one feel uplifted with glowing skin and complexion.

What are the benefits of FIR saunas besides helping eliminate toxins?

The following conditions greatly benefit from hyperthermic therapy:

    • Chronic Fatigue or fibromyalgia – hyperthermic therapy helps to restore normal autonomic nervous system function
    • Muscle pain, healing of sprain, bursitis, arthritis – hyperthermic therapy stimulates dilation of peripheral blood vessels thus, relieving pain and speeding healing

Cardiovascular health – As the body increases sweat production to cool itself, the heart works harder pumping blood at a greater rate to boost circulation. Heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate increase, while diastolic blood pressure drops, for improved overall cardiovascular fitness.

Promotes relaxation – Hyperthermic therapy helps creating a feeling of well being and
relaxation.

Weight loss – Research reports that an average person can easily sweat off 500grams in a sauna, consuming nearly 300kcal – the equivalent of running 2-3 miles.

Why are the Accuciser and FIR sauna complementing each other?

Exercising before hyperthermic therapy is recommending as it is favourable to outright sweating

Since Accuciser already stimulates the blood and lymphatic circulation it makes sense to assume that the toxins would exit more rapidly when using the two therapies simultaneously.

How long does a session last and how many are necessary?

Assuming that one has either exercised thoroughly before hand (or spent ten minutes on the Accuciser, twenty to thirty minutes twice weekly for a period of six to eight weeks for best results.

Fifteen minutes on the Accuciser is the equivalent of a 5km walk so ten minutes of "accucising" would be an excellent preparation for the hyperthermic therapy.
